BackPreviousKoko Restaraunt and Bar  1 / 8NextInfo

This restaurant and bar in Montreal came to us as an open, undefined space. Here, we were able to explore its scale, with its grand, outdoor terrace and over-height ceilings.

KoKo needed to reflect the differing requirements of the space: daytime and evening, as a restaurant and a destination cocktail lounge. The building that is home to KoKo is art nouveau and the second property that welcomed the Opus brand. Inspired by the drawings of Aubrey Beardsley, the design layers black and white and grey across the space. By staying with the black and white colour palette, we were able to celebrate sumptuousness and bring together elements of the baroque style, where more is more. Beyond the monochromatic palette, we chose the signature green. The colour runs along the length of the floor, evoking a catwalk entrance. The outdoor blankets continue the colour, for a select but significant pop of colour. This space and look reflected the Opus vocabulary of decadence and welcome.

“The design of KoKo Bar and Restaurant was a perfect reflection of our Opus hotel experience. It became an instant destination and the comfort of the space, along with its unexpected twists captured who we are as a hotel and as a brand.”
